MS, LADC

For well over 30 years, I have worked in Human Services in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and the North Country of New Hampshire. I have held a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor credential since the early 1990’s. I earned my undergraduate degree (Human Services / 1997) and graduate degree (Community Psychology / Minor Counseling Theory and Practice/ 1999) from Springfield College. During the first years, my primary role was as an addiction counselor.

For 22 years, I was employed as a Probation and Parole Officer with the Vermont Department of Corrections, retiring in 2022. So many people on my correction’s caseload had addiction issues and co-occurring disorders, my passion seemed to just fit. I was an adjunct faculty member of Springfield College from 2006 – 2024, teaching primarily in addictions and mental health concentrations. Currently, I am working part-time with Nek Counseling and Consultation providing counseling services and evaluations for the Impaired Driver Rehabilitation Program (IDRP).

The counseling that I provide is focused within a trauma-informed framework, utilizing cognitive/behavioral and motivational interviewing approaches. Understanding how mental health challenges and addictions impact people’s lives allows me to work with the individuals while they navigate towards positive change.

The goal of counseling is to be a happier and healthier self.
