Carol Smith, MS, LCMHC, LADC, CS

Carol Smith is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Alcohol And Drug Counselor, and Certified Clinical Supervisor. She received certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional in July of 2018. Carol is a Certified Instructor for Prime for Life. Carol has worked in the Human Services and Counseling fields for more than 30 years. She received graduate degrees from both Springfield College and Summit University of Louisiana. Carol completed undergraduate studies at Norwich University. She has a private practice in Newport, Vermont, seeing patients over the age of 21 through end of life.
Issues she often sees in practice are grief, trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, and other diagnosed mental health concerns. She works with patients with co-occurring disorders. Incorporated into her practice are skills/training in ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Narrative Therapy. She is a contract therapist with several employee assistance programs and NEK Counseling in Newport, VT. She practiced in the substance abuse and addictions field for 12 years prior to opening her practice in 2017. Carol has worked as a Crisis Interventionist, inpatient counselor, grief/bereavement therapist, college instructor, and a clinical supervisor. Carol has served on the Alcohol and Drug Certification Board and is a currently serving on the Allied Board of Mental Health for the State of Vermont.
